Pharmaceutical Manufacturers develop products and fund research that improves the lives of people suffering from cardiovascular disease, cancer, infectious diseases and other debilitating conditions. They also produce products such as pain relievers, first-aid dressings, cosmetics and toiletries.
In Pharmaceutical Manufacture, you will learn to run many of the processes such as granulation, liquid manufacturing, encapsulation, tablet coating and sterilisation. You will also learn to monitor manufacturing processes and compliance with (and possibly implementation of) quality assurance systems.
Depending on your specialisation, you could also learn to analyse and present research information, monitor food safety or dispense pharmaceutical raw materials.
If you have an interest in science and you're interested in making innovative medicines in therapeutic areas, then this is an area where you could make a great contribution. A starting point might be as a Pharmaceuticals Production Machine Operator, operating equipment to produce pharmaceutical products such as pain relievers, first-aid dressings, cosmetics and toiletries.
