There is nothing like buying a fresh loaf of tasty bread that's still warm from the oven, or breaking open a fresh packet of your favourite biscuits.
If you start a career in baking, you will learn to understand the properties of flour, grains and other ingredients. You will prepare dough and mixes by hand or machine, load the ovens and bake bread, cakes, biscuits and pastries, keeping an eye on oven temperatures and final appearance.
You might like to try your skill at glazing or decorating cakes and pastries with icing and cream. You could also specialise in being a pastry maker. You may work for a large national company or with a smaller boutique supplier, like a local baker or cake maker.
For someone who loves baking, this can be a very satisfying career, and could lead you to start your own bakery one day.
