Aircraft may be filled with sophisticated machinery and electronics, but they wouldn’t be able to fly without a sound and stable structure to keep them in the air. Aircraft structures need to be looked after by specialists.

You’ll get to work not only with sheet metals, but also with high tech fibre reinforced materials and composites. You’ll maintain all parts of the aircraft, from the framework and internal ribs to the aircraft fuselage, wings and engine cowlings. You could also specialize in the repair of aircraft components.

The aviation industry works to very high standards and tolerances and needs people with a strong attention to detail.

You may be working in Heavy Maintenance in the hangar on an aircraft that’s out of action for six weeks or you may be “on the line” at the terminal with only thirty minutes to check an aircraft and release it for its next flight out.
